Arrival and Car Parking Facilities
On arrival at The Post House, there are car parking facilities for 4 cars at the rear of the property. If you do have more than 4 cars, there is further parking 100 metres from the house in a lay-by.
Main Entrance and Reception
Entrance is from the car park, through the Courtyard and in through the French Doors into The Dining Hall.
Mediterranean style Courtyard
Totally private with gate out to the parking area and French doors into The Dining Hall (the main entrance of property). Garden furniture includes dining table and 8 chairs. Planted with roses and espaliered fruit trees. Outside tap and outside light. Approximately 6m long x 5.2m wide.
Dining Hall
The Dining Hall is 6.60m long x 4.20m wide - includes a large, decorative fireplace, a dining table (262cm x 66cm), 8 x dining chairs, a large Italian leather sofa and two armchairs and 2 standard lamps. There is a 32″ LCD TV with freeview. The floorboards are solid French oak.
Kitchen
The Kitchen is 4.30m long x 3.10m wide. There is a door out to the front of the house. It contains Fridge with small freezer compartment, Dishwasher, Washing machine, Smeg gas cooker, kettle, toaster and all required crockery and kitchen utensils and a Belfast sink with draining boards. There is more than adequate worktop space available and two old pine cupboards with drawers, with extra cupboard space available as well. Iron and ironing board, Henry vacuum cleaner and tumble dryer provided. Clothes horse provided. The kitchen floor is level with travertine tiles. Cleaning products and drying up clothes provided.
Hallway
An open space with travertine flooring, that contains one of the staircases and openings to The morning Room and The Sitting Room. Also houses the tumble dryer.
Morning Room
Floors are the original flag stones. There is an open fire with logs provided. A table and chairs and side table - perfect room for board games or a little quiet. Alternatively this room can be made into the 5th bedroom with 2 single beds.
Sitting Room
Floors are the original flag stones. There is an open fire with logs provided. Seating for up to 12 guests. 42” LCD television with SKY tv (including sky sports). DVD player.
Bedrooms
There are 12 stairs leading to this 1st floor. The stairs are 17cm high, 24cm deep and 76cm wide.
Bedroom 1
There is a double bed with access from both sides and a single bed. It is provided with bedside tables with lamps. Bedding is 100% Egyptian cotton sheet and duvet. Extra pillows and a blanket are provided. The bath is square and freestanding within the room (90cm x 90cm) with a hand held shower facility. The WC has its own door and hand basin. There is a wall mounted LCD TV with remote control and freeview. Hanging facilities are provided, 120cm long and 108cm height to the pole. Furniture comprises of a chest of drawers with 4 drawers. A side table with two canvas armchairs, a desk and mirror and a luggage rack. A hairdryer is in the room. A radio clock alarm is provided. Luxury Shampoo, Body wash, Hand and Body Lotion and Liquid Soap are provided. Fluffy towels, dressing gowns and slippers are provided.
Bedroom 2
Sound proof secondary glazing has been installed. The bed can either be super king size with access from both sides, or twin beds, plus a single bed. Bedding is 100% Egyptian cotton sheet and duvet. Extra pillows and a blanket are provided. There is a wall mounted LCD TV with remote control and freeview. There is a hanging cupboard, 65cm wide x 152cm high to the pole and a cupboard with 3 shelves, 90cm wide x 40cm deep. Furniture comprises a dressing table/desk with lamp and mirror, 2 bedside tables with lamps, a chair and a luggage rack. A hair dryer is in the room. A radio clock is provided.

Bathroom
There is a WC, hand basin and shaver point. The bath is cast iron, free standing and 158cm long x 64cm wide, with hand held shower. There is also a wash stand and armchair in this bathroom. The floors are solid French Oak Floorboards. Sound proof secondary glazing has been installed. Luxury Shampoo, Body wash, Hand and Body Lotion and Liquid Soap are provided. Fluffy towels, dressing gowns and slippers are provided. Room size = 2.70m x 2.90m.
Bedroom 3
The bed can either be super king size with access from both sides, or twin beds. Bedding is 100% Egyptian cotton sheet and duvet. Extra pillows are provided. There is an armchair, a side table and a console table with two lamps. The floor is solid French Oak Floorboards. There is a cupboard 77cm wide x 47cm deep for hanging clothes. This also contains an iron and an ironing board. A second cupboard 87cm wide x 43cm deep contains two shelves and a small fridge. There is a 32″ wall mounted LCD TV in this room with freeview and remote control. Sound proof secondary glazing has been installed. Room size = 3.42m x 3.70m.
Bedroom 4
Up a separate staircase from the Dining Hall. There are 12 stairs, 20cm high x 25cm deep x 74cm wide. The Bedroom has its own door at the top of these stairs. Soundproof secondary glazing has been installed. The Bedroom has solid French oak floorboards. There is a king sized bed with access from both sides, with bedside tables with lamps. The bedding is 100% Egyptian cotton sheet and duvet. Extra pillows and a blanket are provided. A hairdryer is in the room. A radio clock alarm is provided. The furniture comprises a chest of drawers, dressing table/desk, canvas armchair and a luggage rack. LCD TV with freeview and remote. There is a hanging cupboard 58cm wide x 175cm high to the pole. Room size = 4m x 3.25m.
En suite Bathroom
The en-suite bathroom contains Bath with Shower over, WC and handbasin. There are travertine tiles to the floor. Luxury Shampoo, Body wash, Hand and Body Lotion and Liquid Soap are provided. Fluffy towels and Dressing gowns provided. Room size = 1.61m x 1.75m.
Wifi and Internet
These facilities are free and available with a security code connection.
Outdoor Facilities
There is a private courtyard and garden.
Pre-arrival
Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time so that we can be sure we are here to welcome you. We normally ask guests to arrive at a pre arranged time between 4pm and 9pm. Earlier or later arrival may be possible by arrangement. We are located in the village of Chewton Mendip on the A39. There are bus stops within 100 metres affording a half hour service between Wells (10mins) and Bristol (40mins) to Temple Meads Station. Bristol International Airport is 25 mins away by car. Local taxi service is available, if required.

Unfortunately the format of The Post House is not wheelchair friendly.
Additional Information
Assistance dogs can be accommodated. Mobile phone and Blackberry reception is variable, depending on provider. O2 is the best. We are a No smoking building. Smoking is allowed in the Courtyards and in the garden. There are adequate ground floor exit doors. These must be accessed from the bedrooms, in each case, via the 2 staircases. Smoke detectors will ring continuously in the event of an emergency. There is a fire extinguisher in the main hallway outside the Morning Room. A second fire extinguisher is located by The Dining Hall and there is a fire extinguisher and fire blanket in the kitchen.

There is a village shop/bakery within walking distance. Supermarkets are located in Chilcompton (5 mins by car), Wells (10mins by car) and Paulton (10 minutes by car). Bath is 25 minutes by car. Bristol is 25 minutes by car. Kilver Court Outlet Village and The Mulberry Factory Shop (20 minutes by car). Clarks Factory Outlet Village at Street (30 minutes by car). Farrington's Farm Shop (5 minutes by car).
